Our leadership team brings more than 75 years across heavy diesel, field service and shutdowns.

Our Name and Story

The name Kakurrka (pronounced Ga-Gurr-Ga, with a softly rolled “r”) comes from Kakurrka Muri, meaning Yule River, a place of deep cultural and personal significance, and the birthplace of Nancy (Edie) O’Donnell, grandmother of founder Steve O’Donnell. Our name honours her legacy, the heritage of the land and its people, and our enduring connection to Country.

Now based in Pinjarra, Kakurrka represents connection, strength, and continuity across community, clients, and the Country on which we operate. It embodies the spirit and resilience of the Yule River and its people, values that guide how we operate every day.

Steve O’Donnell and Scott Law founded Kakurrka Resources to raise the standard for quality and integrity in the resources sector while empowering the next generation to carry forward the spirit, strength and resilience that define Kakurrka’s heritage.

Giving back is at the heart of everything we do at KR.

Through our Giving Back program, we create real opportunities and support the communities that support us. We go beyond working with local schools, dedicating our time to helping young people build careers in our industry through pathways, apprenticeships, and hands-on experience that lead to lasting futures.

Our commitment also extends to local sporting clubs and Indigenous communities across Western Australia and the Northern Territory. We support initiatives that strengthen culture, promote wellbeing, and create sustainable employment opportunities.

For us, giving back means investing in people, communities, and culture. It’s about helping people stay strong, connected, and thriving for generations to come.
